Situated on the shores of Bohn Lake, the hamlet of Janvier is located in the southern region of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. It is approximately 120 km south of Fort McMurray and can be accessed from Alberta Highways 881 as well as a small airstrip located in the community. There is a large Métis population in Janvier and it is home to the Chipewyan Prairie First Nation. According to the 2010 census, there are 195 people living in Janvier.
